This course will cover important aspects of modern research on apicomplexan parasites and will be divided in lectures given by leading experts in each field, and two distinct experimental moduls. The focus of lectures is broad and intends to be multidisciplinary covering relevant topics on pathogenesis and treatment of apicomplexan diseases, molecular and cellular biology of apicomplexan parasites, bioinformatics and database mining, immunology and animal models, genotyping and drug discovery/drug resistance.
TopicsBasic cell biology and molecular biology, Genetic diversity and genotyping, Bioinformatics and database mining, Immunology and animal models, Drug discovery and drug resistance.
ParticipantsResearchers holding a BSc or equivalent in a relevant field (biology, biochemistry, medicine, veterinary medicine, public health or epidemiology). Students and Junior Scientists are welcome to attend.
FundingParticipants are expected to cover their own travel costs. Grants covering twin-share accommodation and meals are available for selected nationals of ICGEB Member States. Limited travel contribution will additionally be available for selected students/junior scientists based on the overall resources available to this purpose.
